Using MQTT outside of Scada?

This question is really for @wes.johnson I’m wanting to use a python script to retreive from the Stock Market the Real-Time “WTI-Crude Oil Price”. I know of several APIs that can get this done, but I want to carry this on a little further. Don’t you have a python script that could publish the result value back to my Ignition 7.9.10 server in the Sparkplug B 3.1 protocol?

I would like to display in almost Real-Time the total value of our inventory on our Scada Home Screen for the office.

I don’t have anything handy. But, I’d probably avoid Sparkplug in this particular case to make things simple. See ‘custom namespaces’ for Engine here: MQTT Engine Custom Namespace - MQTT Modules for Ignition 8.x - Confluence
